Lake Goollelal

DISTANCE : 8.9km GRADIENT: Flat around the lake, with a steady climb/fall between Greenwood Stn and the lake. GRADE: Medium

We’ve graded this ride as ‘medium’ due to the ascent/descent to Greenwood Stn. However if you exclude this segment, you can consider the lake ride ‘easy’.

Actually, we have sneakily included the new segment as we are beyond excited about this latest upgrade! The new path connects the lake with Greenwood Stn through suburban Kingsley, allowing for safe, direct travel (away from traffic) between each.

The lake itself is a little less impressive than the other lake rides. It doesn’t have the same park facilities as the others, however it is a natural bushland oasis in the midst of suburbia.

Points of interest

  • the remnants of Luisini Winery are still evident in the park. Although it ceased operation in 1986, it was once considered the largest privately owned operating winery in the southern hemisphere.
  • Lake Goollelal is part of Yellagonga Regional Park,a series of wetland ecosystems stretching all the way from Cockburn in the south to Yanchep in the north.
