Canning River loop (short)

DISTANCE: 7.0km GRADIENT: Mostly flat GRADE: Easy

If you are after a change of scenery from the iconic Swan, something less fast-paced and a satisfyingly short loop – you can’t beat this one. You’ll see plenty of locals ambling along these quiet paths, kids scooting about completely carefree and the odd fisherman quietly dipping in the waters for a hopeful meal.

You’ll have a distant view of the city, constant water views and a path you can’t miss. There’s opportunities to stop for a rest in many of the parklands, and if you are lucky there may be a coffee vendor vying for customers in one of these splendid parks. But really, the coffee can probably wait as it’s just a 7km back to Canning Bridge station and from there the world is you and your belly’s oyster!

If you would like to make this ride slightly more challenging without the concern of getting lost (which we admit you might on the longer loop), hook this ride up with one of the Swan River loops, for some hassle-free length.

Points of Interest

  • Mount Henry Bridge is our switchback across the Canning via the Kwinana Fwy. Opened in 1982, the bridge is the longest road bridge in WA, at a length of 660m. Between 2004 and 2006 it was widened to incorporate the North-South trainline.
  • There’s never a wrong time to stop for coffee. Especially if it’s really not thast far out of your way…. Pop into Coco Bella Espresso, Mt Pleasant, really just a stone’s throw from the Canning.
